We’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Wi-Fi 7, the next-generation wireless standard, and there has been some concern about whether Windows 10 users will be able to benefit from its faster speeds. However, we can now put those worries to rest. Contrary to previous rumors, Windows 10 users will indeed be able to enjoy the advantages of Wi-Fi 7.

The Initial Concerns

About a month ago, a leaked Intel document surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), causing a stir among tech enthusiasts. The document, shared by a prominent hardware leaker, did not mention support for Windows 10 when it came to Wi-Fi 7. It only listed support for Windows 11, Linux, and ChromeOS. Naturally, this raised concerns that Windows 10 might be left out in the cold.

Good News for Windows 10 Users

Fortunately, the concerns were unfounded. While the leaked document did not explicitly mention Windows 10 support, Intel has indirectly confirmed that Windows 10 PCs will indeed be able to benefit from Wi-Fi 7. Neowin reports that Intel has added two Wi-Fi 7 modules, the Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 and Wi-Fi 7 BE202, to its official Ark product database. Both modules are listed as compatible with both Windows 11 and Windows 10, along with Linux.

Minor Panic Averted

So, any panic among Windows 10 users can now be laid to rest. When Wi-Fi 7 becomes widely available, Windows 10 users will be able to enjoy the significantly faster wireless speeds it offers. Compared to Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7 boasts a fivefold increase in speed, which is undoubtedly exciting news for tech enthusiasts.

The Timeline for Wi-Fi 7

While the announcement of Wi-Fi 7 compatibility for Windows 10 is reassuring, it’s important to note that the standard is still in its early stages. The Intel modules supporting Wi-Fi 7 won’t be available for some time, and it will take a while for client devices and wireless routers to support the new standard fully. We can expect the Wi-Fi 7 standard to be fully formed and certified next year, with compatible hardware rolling out in 2024.

Exciting Times Ahead

Regardless of the version of Windows you’re currently running, there’s plenty to look forward to with the arrival of Wi-Fi 7. The increased wireless speeds will undoubtedly enhance our online experiences, making tasks such as streaming, gaming, and downloading faster and more seamless. So, rest assured, Windows 10 users, you won’t be left behind when it comes to Wi-Fi 7.
